City of Mahres / Geographic situation

 

Mahres is a Tunisian coastal town located about thirty kilometers south of Sfax and 300 kilometers from Tunis. It occupies a central place among the delegations of the state, known for its diversified agricultural production through its olive lands which occupy 31.500 hectares and 620.000 olive trees.
Mahres is distinguished by a maritime wealth estimated at 1.200 tons of fish, due to the inshore fishing.
Its strategic location allows it to have investments in various fields, particularly in tourism, culture and environment.

 

 The town has always been associated to an active movement thanks the internal roads and transport that lead to archaeological and cultural sites in the governorate of Sfax and other archaeological areas within the delegation of Mahres. In addition, the roads, the rail network and the sea represent an important link between the capital and the east or south of the country
It also represents a link to many other cities: northern regions of North Africa and transit point to Libya and the East.

 
 
Mahres has many near regions as Lich,Sidi Ghrib  Sidi Ahmed Absa Where the Byzantine tower was built, Smara, Mouasset, Henchir Messaouda and Nakta is a carpet of different colors; the azure sea and the beautiful beaches, the greenery of the lush shade, the aromas of olive scented forests, added to the large space of green areas of 11 hectares, such as the park of plastic arts and many others.
